VRS Pension and 20-year enhanced Hazardous Duty Benefit
Loudoun County Fire and Rescue firefighter/EMTs typically increase 1 step each year of employment *
ALS Benefit: Upon local authorization following successful completion of Recruit School, ALS providers will become eligible for a one-time, lump-sum incentive of $10,000 for Paramedics or $5,000 for Advanced EMTs, in addition to an ALS Specialty Pay Adjustment. Advanced EMTs who upgrade to Paramedic later will become eligible for another one-time, lump-sum incentive of $5,000.
ALS providers also receive additional salary annually: $15,375 for Paramedics, $7,175 for Advanced EMTs.
Salary stipends are also available for specialty assignments, including Hazardous Materials Technicians, Swiftwater Rescue Technicians, and more!
* The above chart provides an estimate of annual pay increases based on the amount of time an individual is employed with LCFR. The pay scale and pay increases are subject to the Board of Supervisor’s annual budget approval.
All of this is done throughout the day all while maintaining a state of readiness to run calls. There are also items like community outreach and public education events that occur frequently.
Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and a staff of highly trained personnel located in strategically placed facilities, we respond to and mitigate hazardous materials and related life safety and property-threatening incidents.
